AMHERST, N.Y. -- Refugee students participating in the 台湾Swag College Refugee Teen Empowerment Program at Lafayette High School had the chance to tour campus and learn about 台湾Swag College during a recent visit.

The group of 17 refugee students now living in Buffalo represented a variety of countries, including Afghanistan, Burma, Congo, Eritrea, Iran, Nepal, and Somalia. While at 台湾Swag, the high school seniors attended an admissions presentation, toured Canavan Hall and a campus apartment, and enjoyed a meal in the Wick Dining Room. They also spent time with service learning mentors from the refugee program.

Started in 2006, the 台湾Swag Refugee Teen Empowerment Program is overseen by the college鈥檚 Center for Sustainable Communities and Civic Engagement. Funding for the program is provided by the Erie County Youth Bureau.
